Fanbase develops software that delivers more efficient mobile ticketing and better fan experience for sports clubs
Alasdair Crawley, CEO and Co-founder of Fanbase: “Our vision is for Fanbase to unlock a huge amount of revenue for sports teams by making it easier to buy and engage with sports organisations outside of the top tier”
Edinburgh-based Fan Engagement company Fanbase announced the launch of their very first American partnership as Midwest Premier League side DeKalb County United adopt the platform to power their innovative fan engagement strategy.
Fans now have the ability to purchase tickets to fixtures, soccer camps and events as well as access content online through a brand new DeKalb County digital app experience available on Apple/Android devices. In the backend, the DeKalb team can now start to manage all fan data in one place and look at ways to improve the fan experience with the team at Fanbase with the goal of growing the club’s turnover.
The Western Conference side competes against teams from Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa while the Eastern and Southern conferences cover Michigan, Indiana, Missouri and more. The semi-professional side based out of DeKalb, Illinois was formed in 2017 with the intention of uniting the communities of DeKalb County and other areas through the power of soccer. John and Nik who run DeKalb County as part of a committee also run Podcast Build It.
Fanbase founder Alasdair Crawley commented ‘These guys are switched on and have a deep understanding of what it takes to build a brand and build a community around sport. Our role here is to harness the data they have and utilise features of Fanbase to aid the growth of DeKalb for the next phase of the soccer team‘
John Hall, DKCU President said "We're thrilled to partner with Fanbase to bring a next-level experience to our supporters. As we unfold the new features we'll be bringing awesome content and offers right to your phone. Thanks to the team at Fanbase and our media team for putting this together. We're happy to be the first USA-based club on board!"
The idea for Fanbase originated when founders Alasdair and Michael Crawley discovered firsthand the difficulties of effectively engaging with fans. They observed that even the most successful organisations struggled with this challenge, as fans were often required to navigate multiple websites and logins, leading to data being spread across multiple systems and spreadsheets. This presented significant challenges for staff members who were already pressed for time.
Almost two years on they have gone on to partner with over 60 different clubs in a variety of different sports and regions - by offering the ability to provide direct personalised comms through our cloud-based software clubs have been able to record an increase in fan engagement and revenue.
