Currie Chieftains place increased focus on fan engagement with Fanbase

We are delighted to announce the launch of our latest partnership with Currie Chieftains as they begin to place a focus on fan engagement going forward!

About Currie

Currie Rugby Football Club was founded some 52 years ago. Had it not been for the coronavirus pandemic, the club would have been publicly celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2020. In the event the celebrations had to be delayed but they did take place in June 2022.

Unlike most national league clubs in the Eastern Scotland region, Currie RFC’s origins were overtly community-based. Six rugby men - now celebrated by the 6 embedded in Currie Chieftains logo - met regularly in the Weavers Knowe pub in the village of Currie. They came up with the concept of a club ‘to promote and develop the game of rugby within the area, for the benefit of the sport and the community’, and the rest is history.

Since then the Chieftains as they are known have won the Scottish Premiership twice (2006, 2007) and finished runners up in the 05-06 Scottish Cup with a host of other sevens tournament titles to their name.

About the partnership

Fans of Currie now have access to digital ticketing for fixtures and events, memberships, content, hospitality and more within the Currie branded Fanbase app available on mobile device or desktop. Bringing all this into one place significantly improves the fan experience, removing the need for multiple logins and having to interact across different websites when engaging with the club.

Fanbase will give club officials a tool to manage all of the above in one place, not only bringing costs down but saving essential time spent on admin tasks such as managing memberships and organising tickets. Allowing a focus to be placed on other tasks that can bring in additional revenue into the club.

Fanbase CEO Alasdair Crawley commented “The Currie Chieftains are a fantastic rugby club with a lot of support and backing from its community. By moving a lot of their operations digitally they will be able to harness data never collected before to improve the communication links between supporters, sponsors and the club itself. It’s also great to be able to give an ambitious club like Currie a supporter experience that trumps some of the super 6 and even URC teams.”
