A new partnership will bring sports clubs closer to the people, ideas and conversations shaping the future of the industry, with an original content series and an in-person event already in the works.

Fanbase is delighted to announce a new partnership with Business of Sport, the sports business platform founded by brothers Harry and Charlie Stebbings, bringing together two organisations with a shared interest in helping sports clubs learn from one another and grow.
At Fanbase, we work with hundreds of sports clubs, helping them fill stadiums, build stronger relationships with their supporters and grow their revenue. That means spending a lot of time talking to the people running clubs, from commercial directors and marketing teams to the volunteers keeping things moving behind the scenes, and one thing we’ve learned is that clubs are endlessly curious about what others are doing.
How did another club attract a new generation of supporters? What’s working when it comes to memberships? How are other organisations making more of their matchdays, or finding new ways to generate revenue beyond ticket sales?
These aren’t questions with a single answer, but there are people across sport doing interesting things every day. Often, the challenge is simply getting their ideas and experiences in front of the people who could benefit from them.
Business of Sport has built a reputation for getting some of the most interesting people in the industry talking openly about their experiences, decisions and the realities of running sports organisations. Through its interviews, podcasts and events, the platform has given audiences a look behind the scenes at clubs, leagues and businesses across the sporting world.
For Fanbase, the opportunity is to help bring more of those conversations to the clubs we work with, particularly those operating with smaller teams and budgets, where access to this kind of knowledge isn’t always straightforward.
As Fanbase CEO and Co-Founder Alasdair Crawley explains:
“There’s a real appetite in sport to learn from what other clubs are doing, and Charlie and the team have built the place where those conversations happen. We want more organisations to be part of them.”
The partnership will see Fanbase and Business of Sport collaborate on an original content series exploring the ideas, challenges and opportunities facing sports clubs today. It will hear directly from people working across the game, from the boardrooms of major organisations to clubs further down the pyramid, sharing practical lessons that others can take away and put to use, whatever their size.
There are also plans for an in-person event, bringing people from across sport together to exchange ideas, make connections and continue some of those conversations away from the microphone.
More details on both will follow in the coming weeks. In the meantime, follow Business of Sport and The Clubhouse to be the first to hear when the series launches.
